VIDEO: Behind the Scenes With Walt Disney Imagineering: Updates Iconic ‘Golden Dream’ Anthem for Epcot American Adventure Pavilion

March 25, 2018 By Tony Caselnova

Having lived in Florida for more than four decades, I have very vivid memories of the parks – especially Epcot. Music plays a huge part of those memories, including signature songs from some of the World Showcase pavilions.

One of the most beloved of those songs has gotten a glorious new reimagining, courtesy of the magicians of Walt Disney Imagineering and some very special musicians.

“Golden Dream,” is the patriotic theme song for The American Adventure pavilion’s attraction, which features a tribute to some of the most quintessential moments in American history, hosted by American author Mark Twain and statesman Benjamin Franklin.

Working with famed pop/rock music producer Harvey Mason Jr., the team infused modern, “cinematic sensibilities” into the new version of the song, while keeping true to its original vision.

The American Adventure recently reopened at Epcot, enhanced with a digital projection system, new speakers, and updates to the finale sequence. As part of this refurbishment, the attraction’s anthem was re-orchestrated to give it a fuller, richer and more contemporary sound.

What do you think of this Change?

NEWS: Wonders of Life Pavilion at Epcot No Longer Festival Center

February 23, 2018 By Tony Caselnova

With the recent roof refurbishment of the pavilion, we assumed that the former Wonders of Life was getting ready for another run as the Festival Center for the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival beginning next week. Apparently something bigger is planned for this space as Disney announced today that it will no longer be the Festival Center for the event as it has for over 10 years now.

Early this morning, a number of executives from the park and Walt Disney Imagineering were spotted walking into the pavilion in a large group. This coupled with the roof refurbishment and the exit of the Festival Center from the venue leads us to believe that a new attraction (or attractions) is being envisioned for the space as part of the ongoing overhaul of Epcot. What they might be (if happening), we are uncertain just yet.

The Wonders of Life pavilion closed in 2007. The Body Wars attraction was reportedly decimated during testing of the new Star Tours: The Adventures Continue and Cranium Command has been left pretty much untouched since the closure.

Stay tuned for future updates on this breaking story.

NEWS: New Renderings and Details Revealed for Disney Skyliner Transportation System

December 8, 2017 By Tony Caselnova

During the D23 Expo this past summer, the Disney Skyliner transportation was announcedand the Disney Parks Blog has just shared additional artist renderings and details on how the new system will give guests a whole new view from the sky as they travel from select Disney resorts to Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Iconic Disney characters will be displayed on the outside of select Disney Skyliner cabins giving the appearance of that character riding with guests.

Skyliner Characters

“The design of the Disney Skyliner station at International Gateway at Epcot (pictured at top) will be inspired by the park’s nearby European Pavilions and will be covered with metal and glass canopies, hand-painted murals and ornamental steel structures that harken back to the early 18th century Art Nouveau style. Guests traveling to Epcot via the Disney Skyliner will be welcomed to the park with a rare birds-eye view of World Showcase.”

Skyliner 2

“The Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort station will be the hub of activity for Disney Skyliner. This station is inspired by the open air village marketplaces of the Caribbean and will showcase the nearby resort’s architectural detailing and color schemes. At this station, passengers will be able to transfer gondola routes to reach their destination, or are invited to sit and admire the waterfront resort setting.”

Skyliner 3

“The design style of the station at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will fit with that of the park’s main entrance and bus stations. Passengers traveling here from the Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort station can expect a new aerial perspective of the park’s iconic attractions, like The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.”

“Disney’s Pop Century Resort and Disney’s Art of Animation Resort will share a Disney Skyliner station that feels whimsical and contextual with both resorts. Upon departing the gondola station, Skyliner passengers will ascend over Hourglass Lake and enjoy a panoramic view of these two colorful resorts.”

Cabins are going to slow down at the Disney Skyliner turn-station along Buena Vista Drive and guests will be able to see the mechanical and aerial elements that make up the Disney Skyliner.

As soon as we know an opening date for this exciting new transportation option, we’ll share it with you!
