Check out Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party

Walt Disney World is saying “Let It Go” to it’s Maelstrom ride at the Norway pavilion in EPCOT. What will be replacing it is a ride inspired by the ever-popular “Frozen” movie. The new attraction will take guests to the fictional land of Arendelle and recreate moments and music from the film. The pavilion will include an area where guests can meet the movie’s sister characters Anna and Elsa.

“Frozen” themes will also be a major part of holiday activities at the Magic Kingdom Park this year. Cinderella Castle will turn into an ice palace nightly starting in early November, and Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade will include appearances by Anna, Elsa and other “Frozen” characters including Kristoff and Olaf.

Randy Faith and the Magic Kingdom dot com Speaking of Halloween fun, ‘Mahaloween Luau’ is coming to Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar at the Disneyland Hotel on September 29. 100 guests per seating will get to enjoy this kooky seasonal party that includes beverages and eats, live music and insider info with Imagineers and Disney cast members. Guests will also receive a special edition glass available only at the event. (A note to collectors: the second edition of the Zombie souvenir glass will also be available for purchase at the event, before it is available to the public the next day.)

There are 4 hours to choose from : 3-4 p.m., [4:30]-5:30 p.m., 6-7 p.m. or [7:30]-8:30 p.m. The fun starts on the patio with appetizers and two drink tickets (beer, wine, Zombie Drink or Polynesian Punch). Then you’ll move inside for live entertainment and a Disney tiki presentation by Walt Disney Imagineering. You’ll also have a chance to meet some of Disney’s concept artists and other special guests. When the party ends, you’ll get a Jungle River Cruise Expedition Bag that includes a Trader Sam panama hat, a boxed special-edition “Mahaloween Luau” glass (with a dated stamp), a Trader Sam print on canvas, and a coupon good for 20 percent off at the adjacent Tangaroa Terrace. Guests also can purchase up to two additional second-edition Zombie souvenir glasses. Cost is $125 per person, including tax and tip. To reserve your spot, call 714-781-DINE

Now that we’re into the Halloween season—how is that even possible—that obviously means it’s time to start thinking about Christmas, right? Holidays at the Disneyland Resort is returning November 13 and will continue through January 6, 2015. More details will be released soon, but for now, we can expect returning favorites like these:

Halloween Fun and More at Disneyland ~ By Disneyland Corespondent Randy Crane

September 14, 2014 By Tony Caselnova

News from Disneyland for September 14, 2014! Brought to you by Randy Crane at FaithandTheMagicKingdom.com

1)      As first reported by Disneyland Live, beginning last week, Disneyland debuted a modified FASTPASS system for the Frozen “Royal Reception” Meet & Greet at Disneyland. The standby line, which has routinely run anywhere from 2-4 hours, has been eliminated. Guests now obtain a return time, basically a FASTPASS, from Cast Members at the meet and greet. The Cast Member scans the guest’s admission ticket or annual passport and issues them a 20-minute return window. Distribution begins at park opening and concludes when that day’s supply has run out. If guests are unable to obtain a return ticket before that day’s supply is distributed then they will not be able to enter the Frozen “Royal Reception.” There is currently no standby line option available.

2)      A couple of new Halloween Time festivities have been announced on the Disney Parks Blog. This season, the new “Mystic Magic Show” will appear on the Jamboree stage, where you’ll be delighted by the juggling antics of Zester the Jester and astounded by incredible illusions and surprises from the carnival’s Master Magician. You may even get a glimpse of your future courtesy of Madame Beauchance, a comical gypsy fortune teller. All around the Halloween Carnival there’s fun for the whole family, with favorite Disney characters in Halloween costumes, Mickey’s Mask-Parade, amazing pumpkin carving demonstrations, carnival-style games and activities, Halloween merchandise, and yummy treats! And of course the “Conjure A Villain” sideshow tent. Dare to venture inside, and you may be asked to help cast a magic spell, summoning a Disney Villain from his or her realm to meet your group before returning them to worlds beyond.

3)      Speaking of Halloween fun, ‘Mahaloween Luau’ is coming to Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar at the Disneyland Hotel on September 29. 100 guests per seating will get to enjoy this kooky seasonal party that includes beverages and eats, live music and insider info with Imagineers and Disney cast members. Some pretty fun and exciting Disneyland Resort news this week!

Let’s start with the food. I reported a couple of months ago on the monthly special gourmet apples being offered at the Disneyland Resort. Well, September’s apple has been announced and is now available. I don’t know if there’s an official name for it (besides “September’s gourmet apple”), but I can tell you that it looks and sounds amazing! It’s a gourmet caramel apple enrobed in sweet milk chocolate and covered in a mixture of crunchy, buttery, toffee pieces and roasted almonds, covered with a milk chocolate drizzle.

Other special treats for Halloween Time this year, beginning September 12, will include the Minnie Witch Apple, Pumpkin Seed Brittle, Pumpkin Fudge, and festive cake pops themed to creepy crawlers (spiders) and Mummy Mickey. There will also be some treats making their debut, but we don’t know yet what they are.

Speaking of Halloween, Disney’s Happiest Haunts Guided Tour returns to the Disneyland Resort with new stories and experiences! This year, the tour’s focus is on Disneyland park, where guests will learn about historical Halloween traditions, and even trick-or-treat for special goodies along Main Street, U.S.A. Throughout the park, the tour stops to experience popular Disneyland park attractions as well as the two special Halloween Time attractions, Haunted Mansion Holiday and Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy.

The tour is offered each night from September 12 through October 31 and is approximately 2 ½ hours long. Theme park admission for Disneyland park is required to attend the tour. Tour offerings are subject to availability and may change without notice. For pricing and booking information (and to find out about a special discount for Disney Rewards Visa and AAA card holders, Disney Vacation Club members and Disneyland Resort Annual Passport holders) call 714-781-TOUR (8687). Also, be sure to check out the other Disneyland Resort Guided Tours at Disneyland.com/Tours.

And finally, the news I’m most excited about—I’ve been waiting for this for at least 2 years! Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, one of Walt Disney’s earliest cartoon stars, has had a presence at Disney California Adventure park for the past couple of years, from rabbit ear hats to the Oswald ice cream sundaes at Clarabelle’s, to Oswald’s Service Station, a merchandise location at the entrance to Buena Vista Street. Now, Oswald himself is set to come home to Disneyland Resort! Starting September 14, guests will finally be able to meet Oswald on Buena Vista Street at Disney California Adventure park! I can’t wait to see him!

From Trish @DreamSweetsLove
I was listening to your latest podcast and while TDR events do not get extended it may return next year with some changes which sometimes happens. Popular or not the TDR entertainment team is always planning something new so there is always something new to look forward to!
Ok so time for some belated TDR news:
This week we saw the end of The Legend of Mythica at Tokyo DisneySea. It debuted for Tokyo DisneySea’s 5th anniversary on July 14, 2006. This show was incredible with many dancers huge intricate floats with large moving animatronics and fire and water effects, one float even bungee cords allowing some performers to do flips and bounce in the air. The was also pyro, speed boats and kites! If you have never see this show I really recommend checking it out in YouTube.
Of course the last weeks leading to the final performance many guests came to enjoy the show for one last time. Some guests even started camping out two nights before braving the heat and a thunderstorm and rain on the night before. The day of the final performance had rain early in the day but it let up in time for the show. The final show performed to a packed Mediterranean Harbor. the final performance and show effect was absolutely on point. Guests stayed and applauded not just the end if the show but the the supporting technical and guest control cast as well. As the last dancers were leaving giving high fives the the guests as they departed for the last time some were tearing up a bit.
Personally I was happy to have been able to make it to the last show. The show has a special place in our heart because it was released the year our son was born so we have watched him grow up with it and have so many fond memories of watching him enjoy it from when he was a toddler into his primary school years. Thank you to all the cast from the show designers to the dancers and characters and to those working behind the scenes!
New! Construction Begins on “Rivers of Light” at Disney’s Animal Kingdom: As the park undergoes the largest expansion in the history of Disney’s Animal Kingdom, construction continues on a number of enhancements and additions to park offerings, including a new nighttime spectacular called “Rivers of Light.”

As part of this expansion, construction walls will be installed in Asia and additional walls will be installed around Discovery River throughout Asia and into DinoLand U.S.A.. As a result, the smoking location across from Expedition Everest will be removed as the wall is installed.

The construction wall in Asia also will impact the Wilderness Explorers Telescope Badge activity. Instead of taking part in the assigned activity (using a telescope to determine the height of the Forbidden Mountain Peak),Wilderness Explorers can identify the correct answer on a Himalayan Vista image that will appear on the construction wall and earn their badge.

Disney Food Truck Serving Breakfast at Disney’s All Star Music Resort: Breakfast options are available at the Disney Food Truck every day from 7-11:30 a.m. The food truck is parked near the Singing Spirits Pool Bar at Disney’s All-Star Music Resort. Menu includes: Egg, bacon and cheese breakfast croissant; Kielbasa and caramelized onion biscuit sliders with sausage gravy; Strawberry-covered waffles with fresh whipped cream; donut holes and more.

Visiting Disneyland with Diabetes ~ By Linda Myers of Up and Up Travel

September 6, 2014 By Tony Caselnova

Visiting Disneyland with Diabetes ~ By Linda Myers

Linda Myers is a writer for Up and Up Travel, a Disney travel agency for families and groups of disabilities and special needs.

Traveling with diabetes is much like living with diabetes on a daily basis: It requires common sense and sufficient planning.
The most important factor in optimizing your experience at Disneyland while coping with your diabetes, as well as that of a child or companion, is to adjust your itinerary to fit the demands of your routine — and not the other way around.
From making sure you have all the supplies you’ll need for any contingency to knowing where to go if your blood sugar does get to low, there are steps you can take to make your trip a breeze. Your planning, combined with the services offered by Disneyland, will ensure that you’ll have all of your bases covered before you hit your first attraction.

familydisney-upanduptravelDiabetes and Disneyland: Tips for Your Trip

1. Do your best to stick to your routine. When it comes to traveling, it’s critical to expect the unexpected. From delayed flights to lost luggage and taxis that never arrive, the plain truth is that anything can and does happen. As such, you’ll need to keep your basic necessities with you at all times. If your travel takes you across time zones, make sure that medications, including insulin pumps, are adjusted accordingly.

2. Lack of activity can affect blood sugar, so if your trip requires that you sit or walk around for extended periods, be sure that you are able to test your blood sugar and adjust accordingly. Sitting for long periods can raise blood glucose levels, while a lot of walking can do the opposite.

3. One of the most difficult aspects of travel for all of us is managing what we eat. We simply have much less control of our dietary options while on the road, so it’s essential to check blood glucose levels before and after you eat. Additionally, a little research into at least some of the dining options you’ll have at your destination could both provide insight and increase your comfort level.

4. Have a discussion with your doctor about your trip to Disneyland, as he or she can help you devise a plan for what to do if your blood sugar becomes too high or too low. Having a doctor’s note on hand is also a good idea, especially if you’re traveling by plane and need to carry your supplies, which may include syringes, onboard.

5. Bring some snacks and backup supplies in case an insulin pump fails, or some of your medication is compromised. Be sure that your lodgings offer a refrigerator for insulin and other supplies that may need to be kept cool.

How Disneyland Can Help

1. Disneyland offers a lot in the way of dietary accommodations, and it allows guests with allergies and, or, special dietary needs to bring food into the park.

2. Disneyland offers First-Aid stations that you can easily utilize if you need to make changes or adjustments to an insulin pump, use or dispose of syringes, or get some help in the case of an emergency.

3. If your diabetes prevents you from standing in lines for long periods of time, consider using the FASTPASS option, which allows you to schedule a time to ride an attraction. In extreme cases, you may also be eligible for a Disability Access Service Card, though this is typically reserved for the cognitively disabled. Eligibility is determined by staff on site at the Guest Relations station.

Like living with diabetes, traveling with diabetes can be a wonderful and rewarding adventure. With practical foresight and planning that encompasses potential requirements, Disneyland can be exciting for you and for your whole group. The park goes a long way in accommodation a vast array of visitors, which includes those with health challenges that might otherwise keep them at home. If visiting Disneyland is on your to-do list, take advantage of all of the wonderful tools at your disposal and start planning your big adventure today.

Disney announced changes to World Showcase at Epcot. Soon we will be enjoying a traditional Berber music and dance troupe in Morocco, a corps of dynamic flag-waving performers in Italy, a thrilling lumberjack-inspired show in Canada, a Celtic folk music ensemble at the United Kingdom, and more.
We bid a fond farewell to Mo’Rockin’, Off Kilter, Spirit of America Fife & Drum Corps and World Showcase Players – farewell performances over the next few weeks.

“Frozen” fun is continuing this winter at Tokyo Disneyland Resort with a new special event called “Anna and Elsa’s Frozen Fantasy.” “Anna and Elsa’s Frozen Fantasy” will run from January 13 through March 20, 2015 at Tokyo Disneyland Park. The event will be themed to the hit film “Frozen” and offer opportunities to experience the world of ice and snow created by Elsa’s magical power.
During the event, the nighttime entertainment “Once Upon a Time” will be presented in a special version that features new scenes based on Disney’s “Frozen.” And during the day, Anna and Elsa will make appearances and greet guests along the parade route to the music of “Let It Go,” the theme song from the film.
This special winter event will be presented only at Tokyo Disneyland Park.

Also at Disneyland California “Legends of Frontierland” has been extended at Disneyland park! Originally scheduled to ride off into the sunset on September 1, this guest favorite will be around a bit longer—so if you haven’t chosen sides in the struggle for Frontierland, now is the time!

@thatDisneyLover – Laura Loves the pretzel stand in Fantasyland near the Pinocchio ride and near the carousel, it serves the best pretzels and also more snack items to keep you going throughout your trip without having to get into the long queues at the restaurants! Also you can pick up some chips and chocolate bars in some of the boutiques and make sure to keep an eye out for the stalls around the park selling various candies and treats!
