The magic begins as you enjoy reserved viewing in the Premiere Theater for the “For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration.” Take in the dazzling performance as you sing along with Anna, Elsa and the newly appointed royal historians of Arendelle.

In addition, don’t miss your chance to experience the spectacular Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights—all from a reserved location at the end of Streets of America. But that’s not the end of the winter wonder waiting for you at Disney’s Hollywood Studios—soak up the sights as you sip on specialty alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and sink your teeth in Frozen-themed desserts. You’ll even receive a special holiday lithograph and Frozen pin to commemorate your place of honor at the festivities!

News
The Walt Disney Company Board of Directors announced that it has extended Bob Iger’s contract as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer through June 30, 2018.

Rumors
Monorail to DTD from Epcot
TSM TEST

Quick news
DTD Marketplace dock open

A new bus route will be tested next week between the Magic Kingdom monorail resort hotels and Typhoon Lagoon.

Starting October 12 through to October 25 2014, the new bus route will travel between Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and Typhoon Lagoon.
The new route will alleviate the problem of no direct service from Typhoon Lagoon after 2pm, and all guests being routed via Epcot. The current routing leaves the monorail resort guests having to transfer back to their hotels via the monorail from Epcot.

Two new kiosks are coming to Downtown Disney near Fulton’s on the new Disney Springs style promenade.
Set the Bar – offering cocktails, and Sublime – offering gifts and finds. Both are set to open soon. Expect to see kiosks of a similar style open in areas throughout Disney Springs as a way of brining in smaller third party tenants offering unique items.

From Randy at Faith and the Magic Kingdom.com I went on the Walk in Walt’s Disneyland Footsteps tour Saturday, October 4. Guests who have heard about this tour and are considering it, or who have done it before and may want to do it again, need to know about a couple of changes. First Club 33 has remained excluded from the tour. Next, the tour officially advertises “two classic attraction experiences” but doesn’t say which ones. In the past, one of them has been the Tiki Room, complete with an extra treat after—no, not a Dole Whip, but getting to see up close one of the Audio Animatronic flowers. For my tour, this was replaced with a simple viewing of Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln, and no special anything with it. (By the way, the other one was Peter Pan’s Flight, which we got to skip the line for.) Finally, one of the major draws of the tour is a visit to Walt Disney’s private apartment above the Fire Station. There is currently construction around that area, so for the next few weeks, this is being replaced with a visit to the Disneyland Dream Suite above Pirates of the Caribbean. Which is Pretty cool, but not the apartment Walt actually used. Guests who are considering this tour should be aware of these changes and plan accordingly.

More from Randy: Disneyland’s Downtown Disney District has some special Halloween events and activities announced this week. Build-a-Bear, House of Blues, and more are getting in on the fun. If you have a taste for classic spooky movies, AMC Downtown Disney 12 has a special Thursday night series for you:
· · October 23 – The original Frankenstein and The Mummy , both starring Boris Karloff, at the same times, 7 and 9 p.m.

AMC Downtown Disney 12 also will present a special, limited time return engagement of Disney’s “Maleficent,” starring Angelina Jolie, Friday, Oct. 24, through Thursday, Oct. 30. Audience members may receive special gifts, including Maleficent horns, while supplies last, during the run.

Brand new Disneyland Paris correspondent Roy who is a Disneyland Paris CAST MEMBER and has an awesome website that covers amusement parks all over the world – called wonderrides.com follow Roy on twitter @wonderrides

October 1st, the Halloween season started in Disneyland Paris, including some novelties. Using the slogan “Join the Halloween gang!”, the Villains invite you to enjoy this beautiful season until November 2nd.

What’s new? Every morning, half an hour after park opening, The Maleficent Disney Villains Promenade welcomes visitors on Central Plaza, starring Maleficent, the Queen of Hearts, Gaston, Jafar and many others. The float that is being used in this Promenade has already been used as the “Dreams of Power” float during “Disney’s Once Upon a Dream Parade” (2007-2012).
New as well is Maleficent’s Court, situated behind Sleeping Beauty Castle, where Maleficent takes over the Castle and casts a spell over Castle Courtyard. Moreover, a new float has been added to Mickey’s Halloween Celebration, the daily Halloween cavalcade. “Raise the Rafters!” features the Three Little Pigs, Clarabelle and Horace Horsecollar.
More entertainment includes the Hallo-Swing Orchestra and Disney’s Octoween Brass Band, several character meet & greets and, as usual, the daily “Disney Magic on Parade!” and “Disney Dreams!”.

Mark Stead, Senior Vice-President Finance, announced a recapitalization plan for Disneyland Paris that was in global news earlier this month. It is intended to improve Euro Disney Group’s financial position and enable it to continue investing in the guest experience With this effort, Disney feels they are demonstrating The Walt Disney Company’s continued confidence in Disneyland Paris, which remains the number one tourist destination in Europe.”

Although Euro Disney is Europe’s most-visited tourist attraction attendance slipped 6.9 percent last year to 14.9million it is – still nearly as many visitors as the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre combined. However the decrease in attendance left disneyland Paris with an operating loss last year. Euro Disney’s next major boost is expected to come in 2016 when it will open a new leisure complex.

Mark Stead, Senior Vice-President Finance, presents the recapitalization operation that was announced by Euro Disney S.C.A. on October 6, 2014. WE WILL INCLUDE A LINK TO THIS VIDEO https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WrV1KvQJDWE

Disneyland France — You wait for one new Disney princess meet ‘n’ greet and then two come at once. Alongside Anna and Elsa from Frozen, making their first appearance at Disneyland Paris outside of the daily parade, the upcoming Disney’s Enchanted Christmas season will also see the premiere of fiery-haired Merida from Pixar’s Brave.
Confirmed in a French press release and on the official website, the 3 princesses will make their meet ‘n’ greet debuts at the resort from 9th November 2014.

Anna and Elsa will “hold court” at the Princess Pavilion in Fantasyland for the duration of the season.

Meanwhile, the hero of Pixar’s 2012 Oscar-winner Brave will finally make a surprise arrival in Paris. Taking the spot recently occupied by Tangled star Rapunzel next to Casey’s Corner and Liberty Arcade, Merida will meet guests for the first time.

And now some Disneyland news from Randy Crane at Faith and the magic kingdom dot com. Big opening news this week! The Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage at Disneyland park reopened September 27, following an extended refurbishment. Many of the attraction’s scenes, rockwork and coral have been refreshed and repainted; as a result, guests will see a more colorful and vibrant underwater experience than ever before.

Thanksgiving is Thursday, November 27 th this year and restaurants at the Disneyland Resort are serving turkey along with other seasonal sides, from cranberry relish to pumpkin pie and maple bacon funnel cake. Special menus, will be at Carnation Café, Plaza Inn, the Blue Bayou, French Market, River Belle Terrace, Café Orleans, and Rancho del Zocalo, and special dessert items at Carnation Café, Village Haus Restaurant, River Belle Terrace and Café Orleans. At DCA the Thanksgiving menus are going to be at Ariel’s Grotto, Flo’s V-8 Café, and Wine Country Trattoria. Special desserts and treats will be at Boudin Bakery, Pacific Wharf Café, Mortimer’s Market, Boardwalk Pizza & Pasta, Wine Country Trattoria, Flo’s V-8 Café, and Boardwalk Pizza & Pasta. The restaurants in the Disney-owned hotels will also have special menus. For the table-service restaurants, Thanksgiving reservations are already being taken except for reservations for Disneyland Hotel dinner — will be available beginning October 8.

Finally, apparently the Disneyland’s Facilities department felt bad about us having so many more benches than WDW, and how much Tony dislikes that. Over the past couple of weeks, the Sleeping Beauty castle drawbridge has been rebuilt and some changes to the bridge leading up to it have been made. A rustic wooden fence and wrought iron bars have replaced the series of crisscrossing chains and shields. Along the bridge leading up to the drawbridge, workers have removed the seats in each of the six alcoves. Speculation is that the purpose of the changes is to prevent guests from slipping through the chains, or maybe to prevent falling over the bridge from atop the seats. Reports are coming in that Disneyland’s safety department has plans to add an eight-inch railing extension to the bridge. It’s worth noting that these supposed “safety improvements” are not in response to any known incident or inspections. Instead, they are reportedly voluntary to prevent what management may see as a liability.

  • The distance around the World Showcase, from China to Canada, is 1.2.5 miles.
  • In Canada, at Epcot’s World Showcase, there is a huge “rock” at the Kodak picture spot. Before IllumiNations-Reflections of Earth begin, the top of the “rock” will open, and sound and lighting equipment for IllumiNations will come out.
  • The trees in Canada are replaced when they grow too big!
  • The temple in China is acoustically perfect–if you stand exactly in the middle of the room, your voice will echo back to you.
  • IN Future World, a U-shaped tunnel stretches 700 feet. It starts at the north end of Innoventions East, curves under Spaceship Earth and ends at the north end of Innoventions West. The tunnel is used for deliveries to Future World shops and restaurants.
  • The torches were installed as part of the IllumiNations 2000: Reflections of Earth fireworks show celebrating the coming of the new millennium. Nineteen torches were erected around the lagoon representing the first 19 centuries of the last two millenniums. The torch representing the 20th Century rises up out of the globe during the IllumiNations finale.
  • Try tossing trash in the garbage can alongside the condiments station inside the Electric Umbrella restaurant. Each time you push in the swiveling lid, the can generates comical expressions and sound effects in the same vein as the water fountains. You might hear a cacophony of voices arguing over who gets the trash you just tossed in (“It’s mine!” “It’s mine!” “It’s mine!”), or a sarcastic teen remarking “Hey dude, like your trash is totally awesome! Not!”

        Quote of the week

The natives over there are cannibals. They eat liars with the same enthusiasm as they eat honest men.

Notes from Trish @DreamSweetsLove on twitter! “You may remember last time I was on the podcast I mentioned how it rarely snows at Tokyo Disney Resort and how at the most we might get 1 or 2 days of snow and that it melts rather quickly. Actually, the news from TDR this week is that we have had an exceptionally heavy snow fall, the heaviest in 45 years. Of course yours truly was foolish enough to go out in this snow storm and met with a friend at Tokyo DisneySea. This was not a very smart idea! It was cold and painful and while at times incredibly beautiful, I’m not sure I would do it again.
Let’s say you find yourself at the parks on a snow day or unexpected snowstorm, here are some tips to help you survive:
Tip 1: The first thing you should do is to keep warm and dry. Wear waterproof boots and gloves. Because of the strong winds that are typical in the bay area you should probably have a raincoat in addition to your umbrella because odds are your umbrella will not make it all day. Japan also has something called “Kairo” (pronounced Kah-ee-roh) these are little pouches that when exposed to air heat up and you can keep them in yur pockets to warm your hands, they also come as shoe inserts to warm your feet. You can find many winter goods at the parks including kairo but if you want something for more severe weather you can check the shops at Ikspiari, TDR’s version of Downtown Disney.
Tip 2: If you are not staying on property have a plan to get home! Trains and buses may halt operation in severe weather conditions such as the recent snow storm we just went through. The good news is that there will be an in park announcement when trains and buses are getting ready to stop running. To be honest though it is better to leave before this announcement is made because at this point you are looking at a very crowded and delayed public transportation and the line for taxi’s will seem endless.
Tip 3: Keep warm with a hot “free” drink! You know how the US parks will give you ice water if you ask? Well at TDR you can ask for hot water which can be a lifesaver in the winter. Just ask “O-yu kudasai” (pronounced Oh-yoo Koo-dah-sah-ee), bring along some tea bags or hot cocoa powder to put in the hot water and you are ready to brave to cold again.
Tip 4: Please listen to the cast. It is incredibly difficult and demanding conditions that they are working in when inclement weather hits and they have your safety as a top priority. Some areas will be blocked off due to dangerous conditions and they will re-direct you to a safe route you can take. They will also be station at points were the ground is slick, there is danger of large amounts of snow falling, etc.”
